This week we were invited to have a taste of The Strathmore Hotel’s new menu, as well as having a look at their brand-new renovations. Over twelve months, The Strathmore Hotel has had a complete makeover. The ground level is more of a casual affair complete with beer garden, while the upstairs area is more formal with an outside bar and restaurant. The Verandah sits overlooking North Terrace and is fit with two bars and plenty of seating. Exposed brick, wooden beams, garden walls and touches of rose gold created a luxurious and intimate setting. We were amazed with how beautiful it was inside as well as the new menu.
The new renovations have truly brought The Strathmore Hotel into a new light and comes as such a welcomed addition. The Verandah is perfect for cosy nights out for dinner and drinks. Treat yourself to looking at the city lights whilst eating some gorgeous food.
Here is a selection of what we enjoyed:
BASIL & SECTION 28 FONTINA ARANCINI
These delectable and filling Arancini are flavoured with a tangy basil and parmesan filling, topped with fried basil and a parmesan flake. We couldn’t get over how creamy and delicious the flavours were.
CHICKEN & LEEK DUMPLINGS
Succulent and juicy, these dumplings hit the spot on a cold winter’s day. Served with a wild mushroom consommé and basil oil, the dumplings were just too easy to eat!
BLUE SWIMMER CRAB PAPPARDELLE
This pasta is everything a pasta should be. Rich tomato sauce with chunks of tender crab, tossed with spinach and a chilli kick. Perfect for something to warm up with, we kept going back in for more.
GREENSLADES CHICKEN BREAST
Such tender chicken topped with a crispy coating of garlic and herbs, mixed with an assortment of onion puree, smoked eggplant, harissa, beetroot hummus and roasted shallot. The presentation of this plate of food was phenomenal, and we loved the many tastes presented in this dish.
250G 36 DEGREES SOUTH EYE FILLET
This is the most gorgeous steak you will ever eat. Grilled to perfection and topped with café di paris butter, served with chimichurri, jus and rosemary potatoes. It was honestly like cutting into and eating butter, so rich and heartwarming.
RASPBERRY & PUMPKIN SALAD
Perfect to pair with any other dish or enjoyed as a main, this salad was refreshing and tasty. We loved the roasted pumpkin flavours with the fresh raspberry, along with the satisfying crunch from the pepitas.
A huge thank you to The Strathmore Hotel for having us, we loved the new menu and fabulous new renovations. You can visit The Strathmore Hotel on North Terrace, just opposite the train station. The Strathmore Hotel is open everyday for lunch and dinner.
