Abbots and Kinney – Adelaide Gin Donut

In the lead-up to this year’s World Gin Day, award-winning local distiller Adelaide Gin has partnered with beloved pastry brand Abbots and Kinney to created a limited-edition gin-flavoured glazed donut.

The two South Australian businesses have been busy collaborating over the last few months to come up with an artisan glazed donut that tastes like Adelaide Gin. The donut is available for pre-order as of today, with a limited number available in store on World Gin Day next Saturday, 13th June.

“We are thrilled to share the Adelaide Gin Donut, which combines a love of gin with an indulgent donut, as a way to celebrate World Gin Day,” says Michael Hickinbotham, founder of Adelaide Gin and Australian Distilling Co.

“It comes at a perfect time for South Australians, who are celebrating the end of strict social isolation rules. Jonny, the founder of Abbots and Kinney, has managed to make a donut that tastes exactly like Adelaide Gin with tonic water and a slice of orange. It’s delicious.”

“We have really enjoyed the process of collaborating with Abbots and Kinney, who I admire greatly. It’s been an exciting partnership between an artisan distiller and an artisan baker, and we look forward to hopefully working together again in the future.”

The Adelaide Gin Donut is also vegan, so that even more South Australians can enjoy and indulge in this limited-edition treat. Gin-lovers are encouraged to pre-order before World Gin Day to avoid disappointment.

“We will have some Adelaide Gin Donuts in the Croydon store on World Gin Day but based on the popularity of our previous limited-edition collaborations, these are likely to sell out quickly,” says Jonny Pisanelli, owner and head pastry chef at Abbots and Kinney.

“South Australians are big gin drinkers, so we anticipate the donuts will be a hit and we are really looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts on how the flavours marry.”

“We haven’t done a gin pastry before so it was a fun process working out how the flavours paired together, especially with the floral nature of Adelaide Gin.”

“Pre-orders are available now via the Abbots and Kinney website. For those looking to pair their Adelaide Gin Donuts with Adelaide Gin, the gin is available for purchase via their website or at Adelaide’s favourite gin venues and bottle shops.

Adelaide Gin is best drunk with a good tonic and a sliver of orange.
