Every few months something exciting happens at the Market Shed on Holland; the Adelaide Wine Markets are held. The doors are opened in the early evening, the stalls are lined up, the wine barrels are out in full force and sweet tunes are drifting. People and producers from all over the state have come together to showcase what they can do. Most of the producers don’t even have cellar doors so this night, these markets, is their time to reach new people and share their ‘something special.’
I remember the first time I saw the AWM being held. Like you I was scrolling through the socials trying to see what they were all about. They looked great but I didn’t understand the true fun of such an evening until stepping through those doors to the Market Shed myself.
On Saturday night, I began my journey through SA with a stop by Rollicks Wine where a pretty fantastic Riesling was enjoyed. Next it was off to visit a couple of my favourites; the wax corked crew at Hey Diddle for a glass of Sangiovese and Cuvee Co. for a preppy and poppy Prosecco (few things better).
The star of the evening though was the team at Rock of Wisdom. We thoroughly enjoyed the tastings from their Core and Superfly ranges. Their awesome wine was made even more enjoyable by the friendly and informative conversations with the wine makers. When the brand banner involves a couple dancing to drum and bass you just know, the wine is going to be banging! We couldn’t leave their Mataro behind and bought a bottle to demolish when getting home (I wanted to pop in a smiley face there). Bravissimo to Rock of Wisdom and thanks to AWM for bringing them to us!
Pop January 18 into your calendar for the annual Rosè Rumble of the AWM. See you there!
