On Cloud Wine is the latest festival to hit the Tower Hotel in Magill. A day of wine, cheese platters, fresh oysters, live music, and much more wine – On Cloud Wine is a perfect way to spend a gorgeous, sunny spring day!

The beer garden has been decorated with pop-up tasting booths from wineries all over the world. Cheese platters were passed around, with a gorgeous variety of cheeses, crackers, breads, and fruits. A pop-up oyster bar offered fresh oysters for a good price, and the venue was bubbling with lively chatter of everybody enjoying the day.

We were able to taste, learn about, and buy wines from the various local wineries present. These included names such as Longview, Kaesler, Peter Lehmann, Paracombe, Mt Lofty Vineyard, Barossa Boy, Hustle and Vine, Shaw Family Wine, The Lane, Gem Tree, St Hallett, Hardy’s, Nepenthe and Treasury Wine Estate.

Brand new wine label, Twill and Daisy, showcased their collection of beautiful, fresh wines, sparklings, and proseccos. Twill and Daisy started selling their wines two months ago, and hope their selection of sweet drinks will appeal to a younger generation of people beginning their journey with wine. Their 2019 Prosecco is a sweet and light drink, which feels like summer in a glass!

Kaesler is celebrating their 125th anniversary next year, and to celebrate we enjoyed a glass of their 2017 Stonehorse Shiraz. This supple and elegant wine is light and aromatic, emitting scents vibrant forest fruits and hints of cassis and spice. Flavours of dark fruits like blackberries and blueberries mingle with lighter flavours of red currants and oak.

We tasted the 2018 Old Cherry Block Lenswood Sauvignon Blanc from Mt Lofty Vineyards and enjoyed the zippy passionfruit and citrus flavours over green apple and subtle herbaceous grassy essences. A beautiful aroma of passionfruit, lime, and green apple invigorate the senses and bring this gorgeous summery wine to life!

While we were at the Tower Hotel, we were also lucky enough to taste test their new Spring & Summer Menu. Succulent Pork Cutlets, decadent and rich Arancini Balls, gorgeous Juicy Lucy Sliders, and three delicious bowls (Mexican Bowl, Falafel Bowl, and Cauliflower Bowl) infused with colour and flavour.

This year’s On Cloud Wine was the first time the festival has been held, and it was a stunning success! The Tower Hotel is the perfect environment to hold an event such as this, and they accommodated their guests perfectly. So next year, be sure to get your tickets early, because we are sure this event will sell out fast!
