Owner’s Rasheed and Samima Kabir wanted to build a relaxed carefree space, focusing on good laughs and tasty meals that are quick and affordable. This weekend, Loveon Cafe Xpress invited us to taste their new menu which had a variety of scrumptious vegan and vegetarian options as well as classic favourites.
Open Monday to Friday’s 7am to 3pm, Loveon Café Xpress is the perfect place for morning coffee, catch-ups with friends and family whilst enjoying delicious foods sure to satisfy even the pickiest eaters.
Here’s some of the amazing dishes we got to taste this past weekend. We hope this will entice you to visit this hidden gem and discover that good food doesn’t always have a hefty price tag.
Slow Cooked Lamb Brisket with Ginger and Cherry Tomato
There is nothing better than the smell of warm toasted bread topped with spinach and covered with slow cooked lamb brisket. The lamb brisket was cooked to perfection, with juicy tender meat that just oozes of delightful spices like ginger and black pepper with aromatic perfumes of onion and garlic. As soon as we took a bite we found ourselves smiling from ear to ear.
Vegan Broccolini and Avocado Omelette with Sautéed Spinach and Coconut Yoghurt
One of the best omelettes we’ve ever had! The batter was light and crispy, with a wonderful nutty flavour. Neatly wrapped and bundled together, the filling was made up of broccolini, sautéed spinach, sweet red capsicum and peas. This dish offered nice textures and aromas as well as a nice kick to get you started for the day. A beautiful vegan dish which also happens to be our favourite. An absolute must order!
Vegan Cauliflower Florets on Portuguese Rye with Bean Hummus
Served on a healthy dark rye topped with sautéed capsicum and lightly battered popcorn cauliflower bites, we almost forgot this was vegan. This was also our first time trying bean hummus, which we absolutely loved. It offered great texture and gave balance which really elevated this dish.
Wild Mushroom Duxelle with Coriander and Pickled Onion
This was another top favourite of ours. Loaded with various mushrooms we were mesmerized by one mushroom in particular. It was the use of enoki mushrooms. Enoki mushrooms have a delicate, mild flavour, offering crunchy soft textures. So, when this was served lightly deep fried, it was a flavour sensation like no other. This married well with the whiffs of onions, shallots and herbs, finished off with fresh coriander and pickled onion.
Five Spice Fried Eggplant with Avocado and Pesto
Thinly sliced eggplant, dusted with five spice, is a match made in heaven. The smells and taste of blended spices with creamy avocado and presto worked well together. We loved the fusion of Asian and Italian flavours combined. A creative, brilliant vegetarian dish that boasted amazing flavours. We were yet again, impressed by quality and sensibility of the dishes served. As mentioned by Loveon Café Xpress themselves, ‘Loveon Cafe Xpress includes a mix of gourmet flavours from cuisines all around the World. A cafe experience like never before’.
Poached Apple Crumble Muffin
Why not come in and sit by the large windows, with your favourite coffee and tea while enjoying the sweet smell of spiced apples? This is exactly what we did this past weekend to finish off our tasting. The poached apple crumble muffin had a beautiful sweetness that was balanced perfectly with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. The crumble itself was light and cooked until golden brown, giving off lovely textures, making this a winner in our books.
The new menu selected offered something for everyone. We especially loved the vegan and vegetarian options. They were creative and well thought out. The touches of Indian flavours and spice really captivated our taste buds. We had an amazing time, devouring delicious food sharing this intimate experience with the owner Rasheed Kabir and his close friends and family. We felt like we were a part of the family and we’re confident that you will feel this too once you step into Loveon Xpress. What are you waiting for?
