Stacked Social

Tonight, saw the opening of a the latest O’Connell street venture Stacked Social. The upstairs venue is located next to Café Fellini and has seen a few different bars over the last decade or so but Stacked Social is doing something quite unique to Adelaide.

Head up the stairs and you’ll find an old-school, rat pack inspired bar area. Think Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and the like, channeled through pictures and various knickknacks. A predominantly masuline vibe, despite the pastel pink walls the lounge features a pool table and intimate cognac leather booths.

Speaking of Cognac, that is the specialty of Stacked Social. As well as the world’s best Cognac’s on offer (you must try the tasting board), Stacked have a comprehensive wine and cocktail menu, the signature being the Stacked Cognac Espressotini that has a rich coffee flavour, creamy texture and a thick layer of delicious foam.

Now for the twist; as you head around the curved bar you can’t miss the four elegant, grey poker tables that line the rest of the venue. Framed by screens televising poker games or the footy when available, a card shark will be extremely happy here. There will be a range of poker events that are held that cater from the amateur to the poker pro. Staked social will not be making a profit from the poker events, they are all about the facilitation of the games and I can’t think of a better place to play.

Live music will play on Friday and Saturday nights and we loved the Sax/Piano combo that entertained the guests on the opening night.

You can find Stacked Social upstairs at 106 O’Connell Street North Adelaide.
