When it comes to delicious food and coffee, Jamaica Blue Myer Centre certainly know how to please. Like all good businesses, their menu gets updated to keep things interesting. Adelaide Food Central was recently invited to sample some of their new Winter menu. All drinks and food were provided free of charge.
Today we started off with the Chicken, Pesto and Sundried Tomato Turkish. A classic combination of ingredients that will surely please. The chicken was tender and succulent, and the natural sweetness of the sundried tomato was amazing. The pesto was perfectly made and you could taste the basil and crunchiness of the pine nuts. The Turkish bread was thick and lightly toasted, and it held all the ingredients in well.
Another classic combination was found in the Smoked Salmon and Avocado Bagel. The salmon had a smooth and silky texture with lovely smokey flavours. The avocado was soft and delicate, and was well complemented by the smooth cream cheese. The red onion added some bite, and combined all the elements together well. The bagel was thick and freshly baked, and is sure to keep you going for the rest of the day.
The Haloumi and Chorizo Salad is served with green beans, lettuce, olives, cherry tomatoes and roasted capsicum. The thinly sliced haloumi was fried on both sides and its saltiness was balanced by the natural sweetness of the tomatoes and capsicum. The chorizo had lovely smokey flavours and each bite ended up with a nice kick. The lettuce leaves were fresh and crisp, and were well complemented by the firm green beans. There was a light drizzle of balsamic dressing which gave the salad more depth.
The Espresso Coffee Chicken Wings is something totally new to me. The outside of the chicken wings had a firm and delicate crispy coating which was almost identical to KFC with the exception of the subtle coffee flavour. The chicken was tender and succulent and was perfect with the paprika aioli.
No meal is complete without dessert and today we had the Vanilla Pancakes with strawberries and maple syrup. The pancakes were thin, light and fluffy, and the subtle notes of vanilla made it very appetising. The natural sweetness of the fresh strawberries were well complemented by the maple syrup. It was a perfect way to end the meal!
Jamaica Blue Myer Centre have introduced a new menu which uses classic ingredient combinations as well as new ones. With the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, each and every dish we had was well executed. With great service and relaxed atmosphere, we’re not surprised this place is always packed whenever we come here.
The new Winter gets our thumbs up. Make sure you pay them a visit!
