Hahndorf German Arms Hotel

Every time I’m up in Hahndorf, I usually eat at the Hahndorf Inn, but after my first visit to the German Arms, I was pleasantly surprised. The venue is considerably spacious, and the decor is traditional with good use of timber. Adjacent tables are a good distance apart, and the dining space over different levels makes this place unique. The service here is really good. The staff were polite and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed even though it was a full house.

Today, I ordered the Arms Hahn Burger. The meal was ready in less than 10 minutes and all meals arrived at the same time. Considering there were a dozen of us and the fact we had ordered different dishes, I was impressed. The meal was well presented and it wasn’t too bad. The beef patty was finely minced and perfectly cooked. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the bun was buttered and lightly toasted. The burger was better than what you’d get at a local fish and chip shop, but not as good as something you’d get from a gourmet burger joint. The chips were well cooked and adequately salted.

The pricing here is typical of your usual pub, although I thought my burger was a bit more expensive than what it was worth. As with other businesses in this area, they take advantage of the number of tourists that visit this area, so higher prices are not unexpected. I would have liked to have commented on their beer, but I was already drunk from the breweries I had visited before coming to lunch.
