Yolk Cafe is a fresh and vibrant new cafe located off bustling North East Road in Walkerville. Deceivingly small from the front, the interior opens up to be comfortably spacious with an additional outdoor seating area complete with veranda and shade umbrellas.
Offering nutritious breakfast and lunch options with plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices, Yolk also offers an extensive coffee menu featuring Dawn Patrol coffee. The cafe also stocks a selection of gift cards, artwork, reusable coffee cups and fresh flowers.
Yolk Cafe’s media launch gave a great overview of what the cafe offers – the night kicked off with a signature cocktail called The Sunnyside, which contained 5Nines Distilling Gin with a lemon fizz soda, topped with a fun ‘yolk’. Their refreshing lemongrass and basil house-made soda was also a hit!
We had tastings of their Bombay Cauliflower – a dish that is gluten free, vegetarian, and optionally vegan. For me, any cauliflower dish that can be made to taste good is a win for me! The caramelised onions were the hero for me, and the charred, dukkah encrusted cauliflower had loads of flavour. Topped off with pomegranates and whipped feta, this dish was wholesome and filling.
We also tried their Seasonal Poke Bowl. I love that the protein changes depending on what’s available, makes it so much more interesting! We had the fried chicken and it was the juiciest, most tender fried chicken I’ve ever had. In the bowl was a mix of charred corn, edamame, rice, radish, sesame seeds and nori. It was such a fresh tasting dish with so many gorgeous flavours.
Their food menu features a mix of classic brunch favourites and more unique flavour combinations that is sure to have something for everyone.
Yolk Cafe is open 7am-3:30pm 7 days a week and is located on North East Road in Walkerville.
