On Friday 18 September we were lucky enough to attend the exclusive, grand opening of the brand new Oval Hotel. The Oval Hotel has been integrated into the eastern façade of the Adelaide Oval and consists of 138 guest rooms and two restaurants.
We were able to explore the guest rooms, all of which have incredible views of Adelaide’s historic parklands. You are able to immerse yourself in the moment as you cross the threshold of the iconic Adelaide Oval and enter your own private suite, located on the top floor of Oval Hotel’s North Wing. Breath-taking, panoramic views of Adelaide’s rolling green parklands and famed St. Peter’s Cathedral, or sweeping views of Adelaide’s heritage listed parklands, riverbank and city skyline await you through the floor to ceiling windows framing each suites living areas. There are also studio king rooms available where you can enjoy the additional space of an open plan lounge and work area, indulge in a premium minibar or sink deeply into the comfort of a ‘The Moment’ king bed. For the average visitor, a parkland king or parkland twin room is available and offers a cosy contemporary design and intuitive room controls. In these smaller rooms you can also enjoy an ensuite bathroom, complete with walk-in rain showers and premium amenities.
We were given a taste of what is to come from the Five Regions Restaurant with a series of platters offering the highest quality South Australian produce. An understated, elegant approach using both new and old-world culinary techniques allows each dish to showcase local ingredients and perfectly complement each hand-selected wine. It’s a collaboration that celebrates the very best in South Australian food and wine. To begin, we were offered a selection of delectable South Australian cheeses and cured meats as a light salumi board. The next platter consisted of smoked vegetables, freshly cooked meats and gorgeously crumbed fish. Throughout the night, freshly shucked oysters were offered to each table for guests to try a taste of South Australia’s delicious seafood. Five Regions brings elements from each of South Australia’s wine regions to the heart of the city, and each season, one of South Australia’s leading wineries presents the best of their region throughout the restaurant.
Warm and welcoming at any time of day, Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen offers a menu packed with local flavour and quality wines, all in a contemporary, stylish setting. Whether you’re enjoying a meal or stopping in for a drink and charcuterie, the food philosophy is the same – a focus on the best possible ingredients and a passion for making products in house wherever possible. The resulting menu embraces simplicity and flavour, allowing you to freely enjoy a long, relaxed lunch or a quick bite before a meeting.
The addition of the Oval Hotel to the Adelaide CBD is sure to enhance the experience of not only overseas and international travellers, but give locals of Adelaide a place to get away from everyday life and celebrate the joys this great state has to offer. It will provide a wonderful new space for functions and events, while also providing elegant rooms to relax for a weekend and enjoy the entire state without leaving the city.
