Right across from gorgeous ocean views in Glenelg, you can now enjoy delicious pizza and doughballs. DoughBalls Pizza has opened its doors on Moseley Square, and is a welcomed addition to the seaside.
Calling itself ‘The Pizza Place’, DoughBalls knows just how to perfect pizza. With a variety of classic and new combinations, DoughBalls brings only the best to suit everyone. We loved dining outside in the fresh sea air whilst digging in on a fresh, hot pizza. Of course, they bring to Adelaide their dough balls, which are balls of fluffy dough baked to perfection, paired with a variety of different toppings.
The owner, Catriona Spalding, has a background working in pizza restaurants in the U.K, and is determined to bring what she loved to Adelaide. Cat and her husband, Lincoln, wanted to bring Adelaide a taste of the English pizza scene. DoughBalls are extremely popular over in the U.K at pizza restaurants, it seems only right to bring them here!
“There is definitely a gap in the market in Adelaide for easy, fresh and delicious pizza. We are here for a quick and delicious lunch, or a sit-down dinner.” Said Cat.
DoughBalls brings the best of both worlds to Glenelg. You can enjoy a simple takeaway or a fantastic sit-down dining experience.
“We focus so much on our service. This is a place for any occasion, bring your kids or have a date here.” Said Cat, “DoughBalls is for everyone. We bring all the fresh ingredients to create fantastic flavours.”
Here is what we enjoyed:
DoughBalls:
Baked Garlic Mozzarella DoughBalls
These DoughBalls are to die for. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We loved the huge helping of garlic butter and melted mozzarella cheese.
Bruschetta DoughBalls
These are a twist on a brunch favourite. Soft DoughBalls are paired with garlic butter, fresh tomato, red onion, and fresh basil. We loved the fresh tastes with the rich DoughBalls.
DoughBalls Con Funghi
Bring on the fancy DoughBalls! If you are feeling extravagant, this is for you. Perfectly proved DoughBalls are brushed with garlic butter, topped with mushrooms, red onion, creamy béchamel sauce and finished with a tangy balsamic glaze.
Creamy Cheesy Garlic Mushrooms
Our favourite! We absolutely loved how well the creamy cheese mixed with the smokiness from the mushrooms. Perfect to share or to completely indulge yourself with.
Salt & Pepper Squid
Crispy, crunchy and perfectly seasoned squid is a good side to have with pizza or DoughBalls. We love a classic! Topped with shaved parmesan and two dipping sauces.
Pizza:
Rustichella (Pizzata)
This thin and crispy pizza base is topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, pancetta, sundried tomatoes, parmesan cheese, rocket and Caesar dressing.
Cajun Chicken (Pizza Lite)
Pizza Lites’ are lower in calories and have a fresh dressed salad right in the middle. The Cajun chicken is full of Cajun spices, roasted capsicum, red onion, tomato, mozzarella and garlic oil.
Spicy Chorizo (Classic)
The Classic pizza range has a thicker crust. Spicy Chorizo was topped with spicy chorizo, pepperoni, chilli flakes, fresh red chilies, piquillo peppers, mozzarella, tomatoes and finished with rocket, parmesan cheese and pesto. If you’re a lover of spice and anything hot, this one is for you!
Tuna Nicoise Salad
Fancy something lighter? DoughBalls caters for all appetites. The Tuna Nicoise salad is a wonderful combination of tuna chunks, anchovies, capers, black olives, mixed leaves, cucumber, tomato, and a boiled egg. Dressed with Italian dressing, parsley and lemon. As always, this salad is served with a good helping of DoughBalls!
Thank you so much to DoughBalls for having us, and to Cat and Lincoln for your fabulous hospitality. We can’t wait to be back!
