Adelaide Central Market – New Sunday Trading

It is certainly an interesting time in the world at the moment. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way that we do things. Amidst the panic buying, social distancing, and postponing or cancellation of large gatherings, it’s the small businesses that are affected the most.

The Adelaide Central Market is strongly encouraging all South Australians to continue to visit the Market for fresh produce and pantry essentials and to support traders, and the extensive network of small businesses who supply the Market, in what has been a very challenging start to the year for small businesses.

The Market is open for business as usual, and like all good businesses, they have implemented extra health and safety measures to protect the Market community. Barbara Knoll, part owner of Barossa Fine Foods, says everything has been put in place to ensure everybody is safe. “All our staff have to sign off that they understand the rules of hygiene put in place, and are asked not to come to work if feeling unwell,” she said. Everyone within their factory is even temperature checked as they come to work to limit any sort of spread.

Members of the public can support local and shop all their essentials at the Market, which will remain open from Tuesday to Saturday, plus a range of traders will be open from 8am until 3pm this Sunday. The Sunday hours is a six-month voluntary trial that has been brought about by customer consultation, and will involve roughly a third of the Market stalls at the time of writing. These include House of Organics, The Smelly Cheese Shop, Les Deux Coqs, Kangaroo Island Stall, Barossa Fine Foods, Marino Meat Store, The Coffee Bean Shop, Le Souk and Real Falafel.

Shop in gorgeous surrounds for your pantry staples, fresh produce, meat and seafood, bread, pasta and cheese, plus a variety of specialty goods and take home meals. Everything is in plentiful supply and there are no limits!

Let’s put some family fun and enjoyment back into our lives by visiting the Adelaide Central Market. It’s the perfect opportunity to shop up a storm and support our local vendors. There’s also plenty of parking with the first hour free!
