Palace Nova Cinema – Prospect – Grand Opening

Earlier this week, we were lucky enough to be invited to Palace Nova Cinema Prospect’s official grand opening.

The event showcased a fabulous display of community spirit with a range of food offerings from local eateries Cibo, Muratti Cakes & Gateaux, PunThai, Meze Mazi, Caffe Cena, Schinella’s, New Nordic, and 50SIXONE.

Palace Nova is an independent cinema managed locally and specialising in, not only major feature films, but international and independent films.

“We encourage and develop film culture, showcasing smaller independent films and celebrating cultural diversity. We believe in and support foreign content, with film festivals this year: French, Spanish, Italian, American, Latino, Greek, Palestinian, British, and Persian,” Palace Nova Marketing & Publicity Manager Lisa Stewart says.

Group Managing Director and CEO of the Maras Group, Steve Maras, revealed the project has been in the making for nine years.

“It’s a concept we started to throw around back in 2008, to build a cinema here on Prospect Road and to make it a focal hub for the people of Prospect and for the inner-north,” Steve says.

The brand new four-storey cinema complex boasts two levels of fourteen movie theatres ranging in size (all featuring super luxurious and comfy seats), which can also be hired out for private functions.
The ground floor includes restaurants and eateries such as the newly launched New Nordic and 50SIXONE.

The art-deco chic New Nordic is run by the Vanzati family. The three brothers, Mattis, Lukas, and Liam, who immigrated to Australia from northern Sweden with their parents, found Adelaide to be lacking in the Swedish touch.

“New Nordic philosophy is all about, not so much Swedish food, but about the Scandinavian approach to food, which is about sourcing locally and knowing what you’re putting on the plate and trying to express things as simply as possible”, Mattis says.

New Nordic officially opens today and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering a wide array of simplistic Scandinavian dishes, Swedish pastries as well as some impressive cocktails at the bar.

50SIXONE Prospect is the third to open its doors following the success of its Hyde Park and Mount Barker locations. Having only been around for a year and a half, the franchise has become synonymous with towering milkshakes and totally Instagrammable desserts.

These hip new eateries go hand-in-hand with the development of not only the new complex, but the entire Prospect area. There is absolutely no doubt Prospect Road will soon be the home of hustle and bustle to rival the CBD.
