IKEA Catalogue Launch 2017

Tonight saw the launch of the much-anticipated IKEA 2017 catalogue. This catalogue focuses on food and bringing people together in the kitchen. It’s themes are to cook like no one’s watching and sharing a meal with family and friends without expectations. The IKEA team decked out a storeroom at the back of the store beautifully, reflecting IKEA’s signature dining style and showcasing new furniture items featured in the new catalogue.

Dinner consisted of sampling popular and new additions to the IKEA restaurant. We first tried a Smoked Salmon Burger and a Tandoori Chicken Burger. I really enjoyed the Smoked Salmon Burger with the addition of pickled cabbage, salad and pickles. The Tandoori Chicken Burger had salad and a yoghurt sauce and would be a great lunchtime meal, mid IKEA furniture shopping.

An IKEA dinner would not be complete without Meatballs, so we of course had this included in our main course. Guests got to share Swedish dishes of Meatballs, Baked Salmon and Veggie Balls all served with roasted vegetables, various sauces and salads. A stand out on the table was the ‘surprise’ pot of Mashed Potato, which really made it feel like a home cooked dinner shared amongst friends. It truly was a Swedish feast enjoyed by all!

Dessert saw a taster plate of various sweets including a Chocolate Daim cake, Lemon Tart and Princess Cake. The Daim cake was a favourite as it tasted just like the Swedish chocolate bar. This was a great ending to an enjoyable night of showcasing IKEA’s up and coming catalogue and what it is all about – bringing people together.

The new IKEA Catalogue will be distributed on August 20th and available in stores on August 27th.
