Amigo’s Pizzeria Magill

Located in the heart of Magill, the award winning Amigo’s Pizzeria has been satisfying customers for well over a decade. As you walk into the cosy store, you’ll find large menus on two of the main walls showcasing their extensive offerings. There are a staggering 50 pizzas to choose from which are available in 4 different sizes. They have a selection of starters, ribs, wings, pasta, salads, mains, burgers, hot dogs, risottos, desserts and the list goes on. There is definitely something for everyone at Amigo’s Pizzeria!

We start off with a serve of Beer Battered Onion Rings. They’re nice and crispy on the outside with a single onion slice in the centre. Some places use too much batter or onion, and that can often detract from the experience. These onion rings were just right and weren’t too oily either.

Now everyone loves a good Spaghetti Bolognese but what impressed me the most was the generous serving size. The spaghetti was al dente and smothered with a decent amount of lean mince and rich tomato sauce.

There’s nothing like a good Greek Salad and this one was certainly up there. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the saltiness of the smooth feta and olives was balanced by the sweetness of the tomato and onion. The perfect amount of balsamic vinegar was applied making this a real treat to eat.

With so many pizzas to choose from, Amigo’s Pizzeria is a place you’ll have to keep on coming back to, just so that you can try them all. We had our eye on The Greek which is a yiros pizza with fresh tomato, capsicum, onion, lamb and garlic sauce. The lamb was tender and well seasoned, and the fresh tomato was super juicy. While it all sits on a lovely pizza base of medium thickness, it can get a bit messy to eat, but that’s no different to a real yiros.

Once upon a time, you could get only get an AB from two places in North Adelaide. These days they’re available almost everywhere, and it wouldn’t be right if Amigo’s Pizzeria didn’t also offer them. Available in 3 different proteins, we went for the AB Combination of chicken and lamb. Both meats were well seasoned, tender and succulent, and were sitting on a bed of crunchy chips. The sauces were generously applied, and the thick garlic sauce was balanced by the sweet barbecue and tomato sauces.

No meal is complete without dessert and to my surprise there were 23 to choose from! The Chocolate Continental was the winner today with its beautiful presentation. The dessert was rich and decadent with chocolate in its many forms. The mousse was smooth and delicate, and the chocolate shavings added a contrast in texture. If you love chocolate then this is for you!
