It’s a fact. People are looking after themselves these days and are watching what they eat. This has seen a rise in the number of eateries selling healthier food options. Like most progressive businesses, Bing Boy has caught onto the trend and have added to their menu to cater for a wider audience. There are more vegetarian options as well as more choice for the gluten intolerant. Their use of fresh, high quality ingredients still remains, which is one of the reasons why Bing Boy is such a huge success. Adelaide Food Central, along with other guests, were invited to sample their new menu. All food and drink were provided free of charge.
We started with a bottle of Mytea made from hibiscus and hawthorn flowers, tropical dried fruit and fresh strawberries. The beverage was very light and refreshing without being overly sweet.
Next we had the freshly made handmade Dumplings. The four types of filling available are Pork, Prawns and Chives, Chicken and Prawn, Beef and Pickled Carrot, and Zucchini and Egg. The dumplings were fried on each side till they were a light golden brown. The filling was soft, moist and well seasoned.
Believe it or not, there is an art to opening up a Bing Boy wrap. Just like eating a yiros, you have to tear your way down as you make your way to the bottom. It does get messy, but food isn’t good unless you get it on yourself. The wraps use free range eggs and the vegetables are fresh. One of the reasons why the signature Bing Boy wraps are so popular is because they’re so delicious and satisfying. You don’t feel bloated after you have one. Gluten free wraps are also available upon request.
Of course, if you don’t like 50 Cent and you don’t want a (w)rap, you can have a bowl instead. The ingredients are the same as a wrap but you get a bed of brown rice instead. The variety of vegetables make the bowl very photogenic and your choice of sauce gives the dish more depth. Crispy wontons are also available to add that crunchy texture. The bowls are light, fresh and delicious and perfect for those on the go.
Adelaide Food Central would like to thank the staff at Bing Boy West Lakes for their hospitality as well as Girl About Town for making the event possible. The new menu at Bing Boy is set to be a huge success.
