Daily Fresh Bread

Adelaide Food Central was invited by the friendly staff at Daily Fresh to sample some of the house-made baked goods they have on offer. All food and drink were provided free of charge.

Daily Fresh is a local suburban style bakery located in the Northern suburb of Para Vista. In terms of offerings it is not much different to most other local suburbs with a range of baked goods that include baguettes, authentic style Vietnamese bread rolls, meat pies, meringue puffs and Shepherd’s pie just to name a items. As well as selection of bottled beverages one would find at most bakeries, cafes and restaurants.

The decor is just what one would expect at other similar bakeries. It is very basic, minimalistic but very clean. There is not much seating here as there is only one small table for two people. Like a majority of bakeries this place is more of take-away place than a place one would sit down to have a meal.

The chopped up spinach encased inside the pastry is nicely sautéed. It is not overcooked and mushy which can sometimes be the case with other spinach pastries. The sautéed red onion brought a lovely touch of sweetness to the filling and lashings of garlic, lemon and freshly cracked pepper added that extra complimentary zing of flavour. The pastry itself had a nice golden colour about it. It was buttery, and perfectly flaky.

One of my go-to pies when I am at a bakery is the Shepherd’s Pie as I love mashed potatoes. The beef here is well seasoned and minced nicely but there is still some texture which is good. The mashed potatoes on top is buttery, smooth and not at all grainy. The pie tasted even better because it was piping hot freshly out of the oven.

This Danish pastry is indulgent and luscious. Again like the Spinach and Cheese Pasty the pastry is also buttery and deliciously flaky.  The cream cheese filling is rich, and the blueberry filling itself is adequately sweet without being too sweet and it captured the distinctive sweet juicy berry flavour of blueberries.

The staff here are super friendly and seem to be always smiling. The serving sizes are very generous and for the price it is great value with most items sitting well under the $5 mark. As mentioned previously it really is not a place to come and sit down a meal. But more so of a place you can quickly drop by and grab some freshly baked goodies. A nice little bakery for those who live in or  near the northern suburbs.
