Verve Bar & Kitchen is located on the second floor of Westfield Marion Shopping Centre just below the cinema complex and is surrounded by other eateries. The menu consists of some simple breakfast and lunch options and then the rest is categorised into bruschetta, pizza, burgers, pasta and mains.
I thought the decor was modern, elegant and well presented. There are various types of seating and includes both upstairs and outdoor dining.
For lunch, I ordered the Verve Burger, which came out 15 minutes after ordering and was average in presentation. The beef patties were perfectly formed, so much so, I suspect they were the mass produced supermarket variety. The meat was well marinated but slightly overcooked. The bacon was nice and crispy, and had lovely smokey flavours.
The saltiness of the bacon was well balanced by the beetroot, caramelised onion and mild chilli jam. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, but I was disappointed to find the yolk in the fried egg had been cooked through. The bun was nice and firm, and held all the ingredients in well.
The meal came with a side of thick battered chips that were nice and crunchy, and adequately salted. The quality wasn’t that great though as I had a plate full of crunchy bits.
The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was on par with what you’d pay at a pub or cafe. The cost of the burger was $16.90 which I thought was about right.
