Pars Kebab is a take away food outlet in the Southern Cross food court. Kebabs are just one of their specialties with a whole range of Persian dishes also on offer. Today, I ordered the Combination Yiros on a Plate. This consisted of lamb and chicken yiros meat, salad and rice. The yiros meat was carved some time earlier and was just heated on the grill. The meat was lean and well marinated, however, it would have been better had it been freshly carved off the rotisserie. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the garlic sauce was of a nice consistency. The rice was well cooked with nice individual grains. The serving size was more than generous as I actually had trouble finishing my meal.

The hygiene at this place is questionable. While the meat from my meal was being heated up on the grill, one of the store attendants was using a scraper to clean the grill. The gunk on the scraper was then cleaned off by scraping the scraper on the near by bin. The scraper was then put back on the grill. My heart skipped a beat and it wasn’t because my arteries were hardening. The same store attendant then collected my money while wearing the gloves used to handle the food. The same gloves were then used to prepare the next person’s food. That kind of deflates the whole purpose of the gloves, although I’m sure his hands were squeaky clean. With hygiene aside, the meal wasn’t too bad. I’m yet to fall sick at the time of writing, so all is good!
