Lucky Dumpling and Noodle

Succeeding in hospitality is about constantly evolving and finding a niche that is in demand. There are two things that are noticeable within the Adelaide food scene at the moment; people are not willing spend too much money on food and people are time poor.

With that in mind, let us introduce you to Lucky Dumpling and Noodle. It’s a cosy little Asian eatery located just outside the city and it offers a decently sized hawker style Asian street food menu. The menu is influenced by dishes around Asia, however, the dishes on offer are predominantly Malaysian. Everything on offer is under $20, which is great value in this day and age.

We were fortunate enough to attend a family and friends event at the new eatery and here are our thoughts on some of the dishes we tried. We must say, we were impressed by the speed at which the dishes came out.

The Prawn Dumplings in laksa sauce were an absolute delight. The dumplings were perfectly cooked with a delicate texture and a burst of flavourful prawn filling. The laksa sauce, with its rich and aromatic blend of spices, elevated the dish to another level. The combination of the plump prawn dumplings and the creamy, slightly spicy laksa sauce created a harmonious and satisfying taste experience. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavours, leaving me wanting more.

The Beef Rendang with rice was an absolute culinary masterpiece. The tender chunks of beef were marinated and slow-cooked to perfection, resulting in a melt-in-your-mouth texture and an explosion of rich flavors. The rendang sauce was a harmonious blend of spices, coconut milk, and aromatic herbs, creating a heavenly aroma that filled the air. Each bite of the beef rendang was a flavorful journey, with the sauce infusing the meat and the steamed rice, creating a delightful combination of textures and tastes. The dish was a true delight for the senses, and I couldn’t help but savor every morsel.

The Singapore Seafood Laksa was just like Mum makes it. The bowl was filled with a fragrant and robust broth that was bursting with flavors from coconut milk, aromatic spices, and fresh herbs. The combination of succulent seafood, including prawns, and squid, along with the firm yellow noodles, created a harmonious blend of textures. Each spoonful was a symphony of taste, with the creamy and slightly spicy broth complementing the tender seafood perfectly. The laksa was garnished with fresh bean sprouts, coriander, and a squeeze of lime, adding a refreshing element to the dish. It was a truly satisfying and authentic taste of Singapore, and I relished every mouthful.

The Radish Cake with prawn and chives is similar to Vietnamese dish that we are familiar with. The radish cake itself had a soft and slightly crispy texture, while the addition of plump prawns and fresh chives brought bursts of flavour and a satisfying crunch. The dish was skillfully seasoned with the perfect balance of savoury and aromatic spices, creating a delightful harmony of tastes. Each bite offered a delightful combination of the tender radish cake, succulent prawns, and fragrant chives. The dish was beautifully presented and a true delight to the senses.

The Seafood Wat Tan Hor, also known as egg gravy rice noodles, was an absolute delight for the taste buds. The dish featured silky rice noodles bathed in a luscious and velvety egg gravy that was both rich and comforting. The medley of fresh seafood, including succulent prawns, tender fish slices, and plump squid, added a delightful briny flavour to the dish. The noodles were cooked to perfection, with a pleasingly chewy texture that absorbed the flavors of the savory gravy. The dish was generously garnished with crisp vegetables and fragrant spring onions, adding a refreshing and aromatic touch. Each mouthful was a symphony of flavours, with the seafood, noodles, and creamy egg gravy coming together in a harmonious combination. The seafood wat tan hor was a true delight and a must-try for any lover of Malaysian cuisine.

The Beef Kway Teow is always a family favourite. The flat rice noodles were perfectly cooked, offering a satisfying chewiness that paired well with the tender slices of beef. The dish was generously seasoned with a flavorful soy-based sauce, infused with garlic and aromatic spices. The combination of the savory beef, stir-fried vegetables, and springy noodles created a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. Each bite was a delightful experience, with the umami-rich sauce coating the noodles and enhancing the taste of the tender beef. The dish was garnished with fresh bean sprouts and chopped green onions, adding a refreshing crunch and a burst of freshness.

The Steamed Chicken Tossed Noodles was a favourite. The thin, delicate noodles were perfectly cooked and had a pleasingly soft and slippery texture. The steamed chicken, tender and flavourful, was thinly sliced and tossed with the noodles, creating a delightful combination of tastes. The dish was further elevated with a medley of fresh vegetables, such as crunchy bean sprouts and vibrant green onions, adding a refreshing crunch and a burst of colour. The flavours were enhanced by a savory soy-based sauce that provided just the right amount of seasoning. Each forkful was a satisfying blend of flavors and textures, with the tender chicken, silky noodles, and crisp vegetables coming together in perfect harmony
