The Lucky Guy

Nestled within the Glynburn Plaza complex is a relatively new and amazing South East Asian restaurant, The Lucky Guy. Their team have meticulously curated an authentic menu which can be easily adapted to suit special dietary requirements. They have also recently obtained their liquor licence, and have a range of beer, wine and cocktails to go with your delicious meal.

We recently visited The Lucky Guy to sample some of their menu.

Lucky Wings

We really love our wings and these were cooked to perfection. The chicken was soft and moist, while being nice and crispy on the outside. The combination with the sweet chilli dipping sauce was a winner.

Salt and Pepper Squid

We were amazed at how generous the portions were. This dish was loaded with squid that has been lightly battered and then wok tossed with chilli, onion and five spice. The squid was crispy on the outside, and juicy and succulent on the inside.

Soft Shell Crab Bao

We don’t remember soft shell crab looking so big! The soft shell crab portions were lightly battered and fried until crispy. It worked perfectly well with the lightly spicy sriracha mayo.

Choo Chee Chicken

This was our favourite dish of the day. It was loaded with generous amounts of succulent chicken breast slices smothered in a combination of red curry sauce, creamy coconut, basil, chilli and lime leaves. Each bite came with a spicy aftertaste which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Sweet and Sour Pork

There’s nothing like a classic Sweet and Sour Pork. Large morsels of juicy pork have been battered and fried, and then smothered in a thick sweet and sour sauce.

Sambal Prawns

This dish isn’t something we would normally order, however, we were pleasantly surprised. Full of prawns, eggplant, green beans and onion, the homemade sambal sauce did a great job of combining all the ingredients together. For those wondering, this dish isn’t spicy at all.

Green Curry Chicken

We know a delicious Thai green chicken curry just by the aroma when the dish is brought to the table. The curry is filled with generous slices of chicken breast that are tender and succulent. They have been soaking in the delicious green curry sauce that has been perfectly seasoned.

Pad Thai

We like to order Pad Thai whenever it’s available on the menu, and this one does not disappoint! The noodles are perfectly cooked and the flavours are just right. Full of succulent prawns and chicken, as well as bean sprouts, bean curd, spring onion and peanuts, the ratio to the noodles is well proportioned. The secret to a great Pad Thai is the addition of tomato sauce, and we think they have the recipe right.

Cantonese Style Fried Rice

There’s nothing like a delicious fried rice to accompany all the main dishes. The Cantonese style was full of roasted barbecue pork and Chinese sausage slices, as well as an array of vegetables. You could tell the rice was fried in a really hot wok as you could taste the smokiness with each spoonful.

We can tell you first hand that the food at The Lucky Guy is amazing! Combine that with the casual atmosphere, and the fast and friendly service, this restaurant has become our regular! They also have specials each night during the week, so look out for those!

The Lucky Guy is open from for lunch 12pm-2:30pm and for dinner 4:30pm-8:30pm Tuesday to Sunday. Delivery is also available through their delivery partners.
