We simply can’t get enough of the delicious food at Oriental House. With restaurants in Firle and Glenunga, there is something for everyone in their extensive Chinese and Thai menu. We continued from where we left off from our last visit and worked our way through more of the menu.
Pork & Cabbage Dumplings – steamed pork mince and Chinese cabbage filling.
Coming in a generous serve of five juicy and plump dumplings, these really hit the spot when it came to lunch time hunger. The pork and cabbage filling was well seasoned, and wrapped in a firm dumpling skin. The base of the plate was soaked with a tangy vinaigrette dressing.

Special Chicken Wings – dry chilli and peppercorn chopped wings in a special spicy sauce.
Chicken wings are always a favourite, and especially in this particular case. The morsels of chicken wings had a crispy and crunch coating, with the inside revealing juicy and succulent meat. The dry chilli gave the dish a real kick, while the peppercorn had a numbing sensation.

Salt & Pepper Squid – seasoned with capsicum, spring onion and fresh chilli.
A favourite and a classic is the salt and pepper squid. Strips of perfectly cooked squid had a light and crispy coating. The savoury seasoning was applied in the right quantities and was absolutely perfect.

Singapore Noodles
Take me back to the streets of Asia with these delicious Singapore Noodles. With a choice of common proteins, we went with chicken, which was tender and juicy. The noodles were lightly curried and were fried with a medley of vegetables.

Crispy BBQ Pork Belly
There’s an art to cooking pork belly and they have it down pat. The cut of pork wasn’t overly fatty and the pork crackling was just right. The pork belly was served with a sweet hoisin sauce.

Green Chicken Curry – with green bean and eggplant in a curry sauce.
You really can’t go wrong with a Thai green curry. The chicken, green beans and eggplant were moist and succulent, and the aromatic curry sauce was well absorbed into the ingredients. Perfect with some steamed rice.

Fresh Local Crispy Barramundi Curry – boneless local barramundi in a Thai red curry and coconut milk.
The presentation of this dish was immaculate and great for Instagram. Generous morsels of fried barramundi pieces were soaked in lightly spiced red curry. The cherry tomatoes and baby corn were full of the curry juices. Also perfect with freshly steamed rice.

Thank you to the team at Oriental House for having us once again. We look forward to going through the entire menu!
