Callum Hann – Shop Local for Father’s Day

MasterChef star, Callum Hann, who is set to celebrate his first Father’s Day with his daughter Elle, is urging South Aussies to shop local when looking for a gift for dad.

The proud Pick A Local, Pick SA! brand ambassador said Father’s Day is a great opportunity to throw your support behind the network of 99 independently owned supermarkets and fruit and veg stores across the state.

“If you’re struggling to find the perfect gift for dad, and keep resorting back to old culprits like chocolates or socks, why not think outside the square.

“Our independent retailers have created a range of incredible gift baskets and hampers that incorporate fresh, local produce,” said Callum Hann.

Retailers have got creative this year with options including tool boxes filled with locally sourced treats, dessert boxes, cannoli boxes and a great ready packed breakfast hamper for Father’s Day breakfast in bed filled with locally sourced and packed produce and treats.

As modern-day dads continue to break the mold when it comes to parenting, many young dads are becoming increasingly health conscious and aware of where their produce is coming from.

Pick a Local Pick SA! Campaign Manager, Penny Reidy, said “Today’s dad is health conscious and wants to support local, gifting a fresh basket of locally sourced produce from an independent retailer is a great option to both keep dad healthy and also support the local economy.”

While many dads usually receive breakfast in bed, Callum said Father’s Day won’t keep him out of the kitchen.

“I will be cooking a big feast for my family and wife Crystal’s family. It’s not very often we all get together so I can’t wait to celebrate my first Father’s Day as Elle’s dad with them all,” said Callum.

Shoppers should look for the Pick a Local Pick SA! signage in local fruit and vegetable stores to know they are supporting South Australian growers, wholesalers and retailers.
