The Gathered Design Market goes to Hahndorf for Christmas again. Gathered SA’s unique market experience has set up at the charming small German town in our Adelaide Hills for the weekend. The market designers and food and drink stalls are providing festive cheer and plenty of goodies to share with your favourite people. Read below to learn about the wonderful foods on offer.

Fine Mexican cuisine Tiki Taco are serving up vibrant, authentic dishes including tacos, nachos, grilled corn on the cob, tamales and gazpacho. We tried the vegan-friendly Smoked Beans tacos; the pickled slaw, mild beans and Mole sauce (a classic Mexican sauce) wrapped in soft flour tortillas went down a treat. Dare you to get creative and crush up your side of corn chips into your tacos for extra crunch. Be sure to wash it down with a handcrafted iced tea in flavours Lemon and Gunpowder Green Tea, Hibiscus Tea with Lime, or Guava and Chrysanthemum (my favourite).

Seasoned Gathered player Moi An always deliver on quality, authentic Vietnamese street food. It makes sense the hardworking team are finishing 2019 on a high with marketgoers at Hahndorf. Enjoy banh xeo, chicken satay, BBQ pork skewers, and, my personal favourite, handmade vegan dumplings in their secret recipe chilli oil.

If you’re still looking for more savoury items, Bao Plus are happy to add to your feast. Bao may be their namesake, but their range includes fried chicken, rice bowls, dumplings and potato sides. We sampled the rice bowl with crispy Teriyaki chicken, spring rolls and fresh vegetables – delicious value at $13.

Healthy and nutritious treats can be found at Cheville’s Healthy Foods. From cupcakes to protein balls to cookies, Cheville’s offer a range of raw and baked vegan desserts. We highly recommend the scrumptious, soft Dark Chocolate and Caramel Brownie.

Sweet tooths can also hit up the family owned TaCHs Stroopwafels for their signature Dutch stroopwafels. I will rave about their stroopwafels until someone sticks one in my face, but the rest of the menu is equally wonderful including the simple yet tasty Fresh Strawberries Sundae.

For fans of good gut health, Of the gods is offering Jun: a bold, probiotic rich herbal drink made from tea and maple syrup. Swap the alcoholic beverages at social occasions for Jun – the drink of the gods – a raw, unpasteurised, vegan, gluten free brew.
