La Vera have created a delectable new taste for the palette by using 100% South Australian Murraylands Buffalo Milk for their newly launched Belmondo Blue. Italian for “beautiful world”, Belmondo has been two years in the making, and was awarded a finalist position for the Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
Buffalo milk is unique as it contains 11% more protein, 90% more fat and lower water content than cows milk, making it creamier, richer and thicker. Combined with La Vera’s traditional artisan cheesemaking process, the soft flavour and high fat content of the buffalo milk creates a unique gastronomic experience.
A first of its kind in South Australia, the Adelaide food scene is now able to experience the revolutionary taste for themselves.
Founded in 1984 by the Marmorale family, La Vera has today expanded and is recognised as one of South Australia’s leading hand made, farm house cheese producers. Head cheesemaker Pino and his wife Giovanna, created the business with a vision to share their passion for the genuine art of cheesemaking, drawing on their traditional Italian roots and heritage. To this day Pino still oversees every process during production and maturation as he believes “premium cheese manufacturing requires consideration, detailed attention and quality craftsmanship.”
Three generations of cheese making has won La Vera hundreds of nationally recognised awards since, including a gold medal for SA Dairy Industry Awards for La Vera Parmesan and La Vera Haloumi taking out a finalist award for the Australian Grand Dairy Awards. The Belmondo now adds to this list of accolades.
“Pino’s love and passion for cheese shines through and this really has to be his most prized and exclusive cheese to date” says daughter and Sales Manager Sabrina Marmorale.
The Belmondo Buffalo Blue is available to purchase in all Drake’s, Romeo’s and Chapleys Foodlands, the Central Markets, local fine food grocers and La Vera’s Newton retail store.
