Max Brenner – Baked Hot Chocolate

What’s better than a good cup of hot chocolate in winter? A cup of Baked Hot Chocolate, of course!
One of Max Brenner’s all time most popular seasonal dishes, the limited edition Baked Hot Chocolates return again this year inviting customers to try the perfect blend of cake and hot chocolate.

We’ve tried all three of Max Brenner’s recommended combinations and here’s what we thought:

The Classic Munchies
Imagine a delicately smooth chocolate cake topped with whipped cream and finished with a drizzle of toffee and you’ll get the Classic Munchies. The cake itself was reminiscent of chocolate lava cake, with the perfectly undercooked fudgy texture inviting us back for more. This flavour is simple, classic, and all but disappeared in two minutes flat – exactly how it’s described!

The Pretentious Caramel
This flavour is the perfect combination of chocolate and vanilla, with the vanilla cake soaked in delicious caramel. This cake is more solid than the Classic Munchies but the vanilla ice cream gave it the soft texture it needs. Don’t forget to give that chocolate shell a satisfying crack before you dig in!

The Vegan Nutter
We usually aren’t the biggest fans of dark chocolate (milk chocolate all the way!) but this flavour was a welcome surprise. Being vegan, the cake is made from dark chocolate rather than milk or white but surprisingly, isn’t that bitter! It has a similar consistency to the Classic Munchies, although slightly less fudgy but richer in chocolate flavour. The fresh strawberries and bananas give it that final touch, making this dessert every vegan sweet-tooth’s dream come true!

We’ve tried many desserts in our time but always seem to tap out a little early or only manage to sample a bit of each dessert before we become full; however, we surprised ourselves at this dessert tasting, finishing every last morsel of the three Baked Hot Chocolates!

The three recommended combinations that we tried can either be ordered separately or together to share with friends as the Baked Hot Chocolate Tasting Platter. Max Brenner also offer customers the chance to build-their-own Baked Hot Chocolate by choosing everything from the base flavour to the yummy extras!

Max Brenner is also running competition to win a money-can’t-buy Chocolate Feast for you and four friends! Just post a pic of your Baked Hot Chocolate on Instagram and hashtag #MAXBRENNERAUS to go into the running. A winner will be chosen every week until August 19th to enjoy the VIP experience.

Make sure to head in store to Max Brenner Rundle Street, open 10am til late every day, to try this winter warmer before they’re gone!
