St Louis House of Fine Ice Cream & Dessert – North Adelaide

I have a confession to make. I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to a date with St Louis.

I wish I was exaggerating, but unfortunately for my diet I’m not. To the surprise of almost everyone glancing into the cosy restaurant, I sat at my large table with three desserts, two cocktails, and three freak shakes.

Obviously I did what I had to do for the good of everyone reading this, and not at all for my own satisfaction. It’s not like I have a massive sweet tooth and jumped on the opportunity to head down to my favourite dessert bar – not at all!

In all honesty though, I don’t regret a thing – even if I haven’t been able to eat anything else for three days.

I began my culinary experience with a selection of waffles, cookies, and brownies.

The Wild Strawberry Waffle was a personal favourite. The maple syrup was a welcome addition cutting through the sweetness of the strawberry. The combination of melted white chocolate with fresh strawberries and Wild Strawberry ice cream was to die for.

The Louis’ Cookie Sandwich is another fantastic option on the menu. The St Louis Cookies and Cream ice cream is sandwiched between two ginger nut cookies and held together with caramel. One bite of the cookie leaves your mouth fizzing with popping candy surprising your taste buds. The dessert is served with caramel popcorn and a mini French vanilla shake.

The Banana Brownie Martini is as fancy as it sounds with layers of banana, cookie, brownie, and melted chocolate served in a martini glass. It is topped with fresh cream and Cookies and Cream ice cream to create a taste sensation.

Freak Shakes

When you can’t pick just one milkshake, it’s best just to order them all. The St Louis shakes are desserts within themselves, each topped with fan favourites.

The Salted Caramel Waffle Shake is just as filling as it sounds. The salted caramel milkshake is topped with a Belgian waffle, caramel sauce, cream, and caramel popcorn.

The Wild Strawberry Shake has a fresher palate, and is topped with meringue, marshmallows, fresh cream, strawberries, raspberry coulis, and fairy floss.

The Peanut Butter Brownie Shake has a distinct taste, with a Nutella and peanut butter mixture. The shake is topped with a warm brownie, wafer balls, and melted chocolate to complete the chocolate overload.

If you’re feeling a little bit cheeky a cocktail is definitely the way to go. There’s even a cocktail named after that exact mood!

The Cheeky Monkey is a delicious combination of Nutella, banana, crème de cacao, Baileys and ice. It was my favourite, but can be dangerous because you can barely taste the alcohol. I definitely could have knocked back a few!

The Toblerone is a milky cocktail made with Frangelico, Baileys, crème de cacao, and fresh cream. It’s an easy to drink option without having to fill yourself up on dessert.

Of course, you can’t go past the delicious coffee made by skilled baristas to finish your St Louis experience.

Now that I went through the struggles of stuffing my face for you all, I think it’s only fair you head down yourself.
It’s always a delightful experience at St Louis North Adelaide with friendly staff serving up delicious meals. It is in the perfect spot for filling your belly and people watching, or having people look on jealously while you have the time of your life.
