Maxwell’s Grocery is located down south in Aldinga and is about an hours drive from the Adelaide CBD. It’s almost like a convenience store with fruit and vegetables, dairy, preserves, soaps, candles, tea and so on. Of course, they also do food. On offer is a small selection of hot and cold items, cakes and raw treats. They also do your full range of coffee, as well as tea, coconuts and cold pressed juices.
We were here today for the Friday After Five markets which is located behind the store. While we were there, we were fortunate enough to sample their highly recommended Beef Burger. The coarse ground Wakefield Grange mince patty was nice and thick, and had a lovely pinkish centre. The meat was juicy and well seasoned, and we loved the way the Swiss cheese was melted over the meat. The tomato and lettuce were fresh and crisp, while the caramelised onion added a lovely sweetness. The secret sauce prevented the burger from being too dry and its taste was similar to what you’d find in a Hungry Jack’s Whopper.
Maxwell’s Grocery is immensely popular, particular among locals and with people on holidays in the area. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the service was fast and efficient. Their Beef Burger will set you back $10, which is a bargain for what you get!
Check it out! You won’t regret it.
