By definition, a Commissary is a cafe in a movie studio, but it’s also the name of an exciting new restaurant just outside the city. Located on the ground floor of a high rise apartment complex on Fullarton Road, this swanky new business offers modern Australian food with some inspiration from the owner’s Greek and Lebanese backgrounds.
To start off with, I had the Berry Good Smoothie which was a delicious blend of mixed berries, mint, chia seeds and coconut water. Served in a glass jar, the smoothie was a vibrant red berry colour. The combination of the mint and mixed berries created a sweet, healthy and refreshing beverage.
I then moved onto the Pancakes which came with vanilla ice cream, kiwi fruit, strawberries and banana drizzled with an orange and cinnamon infused maple. The dish was beautifully presented and comes in a serving of two large light and fluffy pancakes. There was plenty of natural sweetness coming from the freshly sliced fruit, which was further complemented by the creamy vanilla ice cream, delicate fairy floss and decadent maple syrup.
You’ll be impressed when you walk into the Commissary; the nice clean modern lines of the restaurant, the views of the adjacent parklands, the friendly and attentive staff, and of course, the delicious food! Breakfast is all day and starts from when the restaurant opens, while lunch service starts at 11:30am. Average price of breakfast is around $14, while the average price of lunch will set you back around $18. Certainly good value for money with what you get.
Commissary is open on weekdays from 7am-4pm and on weekends from 8am-3pm.
