Farina 00 Pasta & Wine Bar – Revisit

It’s only been 7 weeks since our last visit to Farina 00 Pasta & Wine Bar, and we couldn’t help coming back for more. As one of the new kids on the block, Farina makes their pasta fresh daily and uses only the best, locally sourced ingredients to create quality gourmet Italian dishes. We’ve already talked about them in our previous review so we’ll get straight into the food.

For starters, we had the Potato and Spinach Gnocchi with cream, basil and shaved 24-month-aged parmigiano reggiano. The gnocchi was on point with a soft, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The cream and basil sauce was rich and full of flavour, and really gave the dish more depth. The slices of parmigiano reggiano were firm and added a sharp, nutty flavour to the gnocchi.

Next was the Ravioli filled with zucchini, cows milk ricotta, mint and burnt butter. Inside the perfectly cooked pillows of pasta was a soft and creamy ricotta mixed with zucchini. The butter sauce gives the dish richness while the mint makes it more light and refreshing.

The carb loading theme continued with the Rigatoni Cacciatore. The colourful dish consisted of slices of spicy pork cacciatore sausage, Sicilian olives, confit cherry tomatoes, onion, garlic, chilli, cavolo nero and extra virgin olive oil. The heat from the firm sausage slices was complemented by the spicy chilli. The bitterness from the olives was balanced by the sweetness of the tomatoes and onion. It’s the contrast in flavours which makes this dish so good.

Last but not least was the Porchetta; slow cooked pork belly with roasted vegetables and pork jus. The rolled up pork belly was well seasoned and was nice and crispy. The skin was particularly crunchy which is just the way we like it. The medley of roasted vegetables were soft and delicate, all brought together by the delicious pork jus. A delicious and hearty dish that will warm you up in the colder months.

Another great experience at Farina. Owner and Head Chef, Lewis is a real genius in the kitchen and has perfected everything on offer on the menu. Daniela is the Restaurant Manager. She knows the menu back to front, and will make all customers feel at home. Whether lunch or dinner, Farina is my “go to” place for quality Italian food.

For Italian food and wine lovers, why not consider the Degustation that is happening on Wednesday, August 31st 2016. Beautiful dishes from the Farina menu will be paired with Farnese Farini Wines. Tickets are $85 per person. For more information on the menu or tickets, please visit their website or call 82711109.
