Panas Authentic Nepalese Restaurant

Panas Authentic Nepalese Restaurant is located within a small shopping complex on Henley Beach Road in Mile End. Run by a husband and wife team who are passionate about cooking, their goal is to bring fresh and authentic Nepalese flavours to your restaurant dining table. The menu is separated into vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections with so many unique dishes to choose from.

For starters, we had the Chicken Momocha which is a Nepalese style dumpling. The dumpling pastry was steamed till it was firm and not too soft. The filling was full of chicken mince seasoned with aromatic himalayan spices. The dipping sauce was a tomato and sesame achar; the sourness giving the dumplings plenty of depth.

The main was the Prawn Sekuwa; king prawns flavoured with mixed country spices served on a bed of stir fried sweet corn kernels. The prawns were well flavoured and were juicy and succulent. The corn kernels balanced the dish with its natural sweetness while adding a crunchy texture.

As we always say, no meal is complete without dessert. Today, we had the Nepalese Style Ice Cream. With natural mango flavours, the ice cream was smooth and creamy. The odd pistachio was thrown into the mix giving the dessert a crunchy texture.

The dishes we had were delicious and you could tell the ingredients were of a good quality. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and were always around when you needed them. The service was great and the atmosphere was cosy and relaxing. The starters average at $12 and the mains $20, which we thought was good considering how tasty the dishes were. You really need to check out Panas if you want some decent Nepalese food.
