When it comes to Vietnamese street food, no one has developed their brand like Soonta. Already with three stores in the city, they’ve just opened a new store on Henley Beach Road amongst other shops and eateries. Just like every other store of this type, they have a good selection of banh mi, bun bowls, salad bowls and small eats.
Today was the second day of their grand opening and they were offering free banh mi and bun bowls for Facebook and Instagram followers. I opted for the Roast Pork and Grilled Chicken Banh Mi. The roast pork was particularly good; lean, well marinated morsels of pork with perfectly crunchy skin. The grilled chicken was also above average; tender, succulent, well seasoned with nice chargrilled flavours. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the pickled carrot was sweet and tangy. The bread roll was freshly baked and held all the ingredients in well.
There are a number of factors that make a good authentic Vietnamese roll. If any of the elements aren’t on point, it can mean the difference between a good or bad roll. On this particular occasion, everything was spot on. The roast pork was the star of the show and it certainly shined.
Soonta Torrensville will certainly give the local competitors in the area a run for their money.
