Scoozi Caffe Bar had been on Rundle Street for as long as I can remember, and I was almost in shock to not see it there. In its place is Mazze on Rundle, which offers a similar type of cuisine. Offerings include entrees, bruschetta, wraps, foccacia, schiacciata, pizza, calzone, pasta, risotto, salads and meat dishes.
For lunch, I ordered their lunch special which is Garlic Bread, pasta of your choice and a soft drink for $17.
The Garlic Bread was nice and crunchy, and loaded with garlic and butter. It was a good serving size and not a bad way to start proceedings.
The pasta I ordered was the Tagliatelle Ragu. The dish came out not long after I had finished the Garlic Bread and was nicely presented. The serving size was larger that what I had anticipated so I was pleasantly surprised. The veal was tender and succulent, and simply fell apart. The pasta was slightly over cooked and the broccoli was firm and crunchy. It was a decent serving that I could not finish.
The staff were friendly and the service was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. With new owners and a new name, it still feels like the same thing. Not bad value for money though.
