Long Lost Friend

From the owners of the successful Corner Store Cafe in Dulwich comes a brand new cafe, Long Lost Friend. Located a bit further down Magill Road as you’re heading out of the city, its remoteness from other businesses is similar to finding that long lost friend. The trendy little cafe has a classic all day breakfast menu as well as healthy and nutritious lunch options that start from midday.

To start off with, I had the Honey Roasted Nut Granola which is served with seasonal fruit and coconut yoghurt. I simply love the crunchiness of the rolled oats and nuts, and the sweetness of the honey compliments that of the strawberry and banana. The coconut yoghurt is light and smooth, and does well to combine all the ingredients.

Next up was the Grilled Haloumi, Sweet Corn, Quinoa Salad, Chorizo, Poached Eggs and Avocado Puree. The haloumi was nice and thick, and lightly charred on both sides. It’s saltiness was balanced by the natural sweet corn and the light and refreshing quinoa salad. The chorizo had a beautiful smokey flavour while the avocado was soft and creamy. The runny yolk from the poached egg blended all the ingredients together to create something truly delicious.

Located in the eastern suburbs, this trendy cafe is quickly becoming a favourite among locals. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious, and everything on the menu is under $20. Combine that with the casual relaxed vibe and great customer service, and this place just ticks all the boxes. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!
