Little Chezs is a family owned licenced cafe pizzeria located just outside the city in a small shopping complex on Grange Road. Established over 20 years ago, this place offers all your traditional Italian favourites with pizza, pasta, risotto, salads, meat and seafood dishes. The pizzas come in three sizes and are available with traditional and gourmet toppings. Tonight, I wasn’t here for the pizza but for their Tuesday $10 pasta night. Where else in Adelaide can you get a proper dinner for $10?
As a starter, I had the Garlic Bread which came as a serve of three. Prepared using thick slices of a crusty bread roll, each side was grilled to a slightly dark golden brown. The butter, parsley and garlic were well infused into the bread, and each bite was crunchy and full of flavour. A perfect start to the evening.
For my main, I had the Fettuccine Granchi which is a fettuccine pasta tossed with fresh tomato, spring onion, garlic and crab meat in a rose sauce. I thought the presentation was fantastic and something you’d expect from a fine dining restaurant. It’s not the first time I’ve ordered this dish, and surprisingly, a lot of places fail with the execution. Mixed in the perfectly al dente pasta was a subtly sweet rose sauce that had generous portions of delicate blue swimmer crab meat. The sauce had a lovely thick consistency and besides the half crab sticking out of the dish, there wasn’t a single crab shell to be found. Portion was most satisfying, as was the execution.
The staff here were great with fast and friendly service. When I was here tonight, the place was a full house with a steady flow of customers coming in and out. I was certainly not surprised considering how good and satisfying the dishes were. This place has been around for a long time and there’s a reason for it.
Little Chezs is a hidden gem in the Western suburbs. I’ve heard their pizzas are top notch as well and I certainly look forward to having some on my next visit.
