Adelaide Food Central was invited to sample the food at Bunme .Co. All food and drink were provided free of charge.
Bunme .Co is a small Vietnamese takeaway store located in the heart of Mawson Lakes. As a first for Vietnamese street food in Adelaide, customers can order their food online for pickup at the store. The offerings are fairly standard with a selection of banh mi, cold rolls and vermicelli rice noodle dishes.
For lunch, I ordered the Roast Pork Banh Mi. Made on the spot, I was delighted to see them spread thick layers of pate and egg mayonnaise. The roast pork is house made and was well seasoned. The proportion of meat to fat was acceptable which indicated a good cut, and the skin was nice and crunchy, and not overly hard. The pickled carrot was sweet and tangy, and the cucumber added a nice crunchy texture. The coriander was fresh and the chilli added a nice bit of heat with every bite. The bread rolls are sourced from a store over in the western suburbs and were fresh and crusty.
The Chicken Spring Rolls are a signature snack at Bunme .Co. Packed inside the crunchy spring roll skin is a combination of minced chicken and glass noodles. The meat is well seasoned and almost similar to sausage roll filling. It was tasty and delicious, so there were no complaints here.
With fast and friendly service, and a cosy atmosphere, Bunme .Co is the place to go for Vietnamese street food in the Mawson Lakes area. With Banh Mi and Cold Rolls starting at $5.50 and Vermicelli Noodle Bowls starting at $8, it’s a great place to come for a cheap lunch. Also for a limited time until the 7th August 2015, all banh mi are half price.
