Orientai has two locations in South Australia, one up north and one out west. The western store is located on Brighton Road in Hove, and offers many of the popular Thai dishes. Like all good establishments, they offer a cheaper lunch menu which is great for those who work nearby and are on shorter breaks.
For lunch, I ordered the Pad Thai Gai. The dish arrived 15 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. The noodles were firm and chewy, which exactly the way they should be. The chicken breast pieces were tender and succulent and the bean sprouts added a nice crunchy texture. The colour and flavour of the dish were spot on. My only criticisms were that it was missing the heat from chilli and the added crunchiness of peanuts.
The staff were friendly and the service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. Their lunch menu starts at $7.90 with my meal costing me $9.50. Even their normal pricing is good with mains starting at $14.90 and going all the way up to $23.90.
I’m aware of two other Thai restaurants down Brighton Road, but this place will certainly give the others a run for their money.
