With so many restaurants and cafes in Adelaide, and the constant flow of new ones opening, one can get away with not visiting the same place twice. Of course, if my last dining experience was a memorable positive experience, there is really no hesitation with a revisit. That’s how I feel with Thai Chef.
As a starter, I had the Stuffed Chicken Wing which is unique to Thai Chef. The only part of the dish that had bone was the wing tip. On the outside, it’s a nice crunchy exterior that is fried to a golden brown. The chicken is moist, tender and succulent, and the additional filling of meat, carrot and glass noodles balances the dish out really well.
The Prawn Pad Thai was simply amazing. The noodles were firm and not too oily, and the prawns were juicy and perfectly cooked. The bean sprouts were placed to one side, and combined with the peanuts, added a lovely crunchy texture. The fried egg was evenly distributed, and the colours and flavours were just right.
The Grilled Spicy Beef reminded me of Chinese BBQ Pork but better. Thin slices of juicy medium rare beef that have been marinated to perfection. The outside is slightly charred and the centre is a lovely pink. The flavours are spectacular, and are a meat lovers delight.
To finish off, I had the Sticky Rice with Egg Custard. The egg custard is soft and moist, and the sweetness is complemented by the chewy sticky rice. A great way to end the meal.
My second visit to Thai Chef was just as good as the first one. The staff are their usual friendly selves and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing represents good value, especially when you consider the quality of the ingredients used and their generous serving sizes. They also love feedback and are constantly trying to improve if required.
I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
