At the former site of Naughty Spot, is a re-branded cafe called Remy and Violette. While waffles still make an appearance on the menu, there’s a small selection of sandwiches and other French inspired light meals on offer.

The fitout has changed since it was Naughty Spot. The front counter area now sits in the middle of the room where there was once communal benches and stools. There are several seats along the side, towards the rear and out on the pavement.

For breakfast, I had the Marseille which is a spinach and onion savoury waffle with a spicy bean sauce, sunny side up egg and toasted almonds.
As it was early in the morning, the staff required a bit of time to setup, hence my breakfast took a good 30 minutes to arrive. When it did, it was nicely presented.
The waffle was a nice size and had a firm chewy texture. The spinach and onion didn’t really have any taste so it was like eating a plain waffle without any sugar added. The spicy bean sauce had a nice after burn and would have done well in a Mexican dish. The toasted almonds added a nice crunchy texture, while the runny egg yolk complimented all the other ingredients quite well.

The staff were friendly and the service was average. While I understand they still had to setup to make my breakfast, it still did take a little long to get to me. As far as price goes, the sandwiches start at $8.50 and the savoury waffles start at $13.50. The cost of my breakfast was $14.50 which was average in price.
Just like the former place, there wasn’t that much to choose from in terms of food, however, it is better than it’s predecessor.
