Located away from the hustle and bustle of the Chinatown precinct is Jam The Bistro. The venue is very quaint with a small number of seats available both inside and out. The decor is modern and contemporary with some nice flashy light fittings. Certain parts of the bistro feel a bit cluttered, and the indoor dining tables and chairs are definitely from IKEA.

Today, I ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger. The meal arrived 25 minutes after ordering and was nicely presented. After reading other reviews of this place, slow service is to be expected. The wagyu beef patty was of a nice thickness, however it was dry and over cooked. There were two slices of fried haloumi that were very salty. The red onion jam had a nice subtle sweetness and worked well with the tomato relish. The sourdough bun was nice and firm, and held all the ingredients together well.

My friend had the Duck Confit Risotto. She found a piece of duck bone in her dish and said the vegetables were under cooked, otherwise the meal was well executed.

The staff were friendly, although one of the waitresses had only started two days ago and was still learning the ropes. The service was very slow, particularly with the amount of time taken for the food to arrive. The atmosphere was relaxed, even with the busy lunch time rush. The pricing is reasonable, considering the large serving sizes, although it wasn’t the best burger I’ve had by a long shot.
I can’t say I would be in any rush to come back here.

Generous with a 3/5 for undercooked vegetables, bones and a dry burger… but hey at least your food arrived! I wasn’t so lucky. Terrible service due to terrible management. Those poor waitresses, they shoudl find jobs elsewhere before this restaurant folds.
