Adelaide has a lot of under utilised buildings located on small side streets. One by one, these sites are being renovated into trendy hipster cafes and bars. Hello, Yes is the one of the newer cafes to open their doors, and is located on Eliza Street. It’s in between Franklin Street and Waymouth Street and parallel to Morphett Street. Set in a creamy coloured warehouse building, you wouldn’t know it was there unless you were out looking for it. The decor has an industrial warehouse feel about it. The scaffolding type steel work that doubles as light fittings, the exposed walls and concrete floor, the street art on the walls, the steel beams and columns, and the mismatched furniture, gives this place a unique feel which is different to your usual cafe. With breakfast and lunch options, there are a lot of vegetarian and vegan items available.

Today, I ordered the Chorizo Burger. The burger was ready after a 15 minute wait and consisted for chorizo, roasted capsicums, lettuce and avocado. The burger was very basic but it didn’t taste too bad. The chorizo was fresh and a generous amount was provided. I felt they could have been fried until they had crispy edges just to give the burger a more crunchier texture. The roasted capsicums were soft and had a nice delicate sweetness. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, while the avocado was mashed until it was smooth and creamy. The bun was a bit too basic for my liking and looked like something out of a supermarket.

The staff were friendly but I felt they were a bit too laid back. They were wandering aimlessly about, but never around when you needed them. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing is slightly on the higher side. My burger was $15, but I think it was really worth about $10. It was nice and the ingredients worked well together, but it’s something I could put together myself. It’s a nice place that utilises a previously unused warehouse. The western part of the city needs more places like this, however, this particular place is not my cup of tea.
