Ohh Sushi is a sushi train place located on the busy King William Road cafe precinct. Situated on a nice corner position, there is an abundance of natural light that flows into this place, which is unlike other sushi train establishments. They have a train that does quick laps around the circuit, but that’s where all the positivity ends. This place just looks tired and drab. The furnishings look out of date which indicates this place has been around for a while.
While deciding what to pick off the train, nothing really looked appealing. For the items I did pick, even they didn’t look that great. It was good to see the sushi chef making the items in front of you, but the presentation was second grade. As the owners were Chinese, they also offered dumplings and other Chinese dishes on the train which kind of ruined the authenticity of the experience.
Not feeling too hungry, I had the Deep Fried Salmon and Cream Cheese Sushi. The salmon and cream cheese both have smooth textures so they naturally went well together. The sushi rice was a bit gluggy and the dish just tasted bland. Normally anything fried tastes good, but not in this case.
The Salmon and Avocado sushi tasted as expected. The salmon tasted reasonably fresh and the avocado was soft and delicate. Again, the rice was gluggy which ruined the dish again.
The staff were really friendly and the service was above average. One of the staff members even offered to take photos for me. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pricing was reasonable. Some of their sushi dishes start from $2.20 which is unheard of at sushi train places. I really wanted to give this place a better rating, but place could do better on so many levels.
