Burger Theory now has their own store in the city!
The 2 classic burger offerings are there, as well as 2 new ones, although one of them was a kid’s burger. There’s a new breakfast menu as well as a selection of beverages. The new staff were put to the test by dealing with real customers. I’ve seen a near by burger place train their staff on opening day, and needless to say, all hell broke loose.
The biggest problem that I have with food trucks is that there is no where to sit and properly eat your meal. Now that Burger Theory has it’s own store, that’s no longer a problem. The store is sleek and minimalist in design. The floor to ceiling windows allow plenty of natural light to come in. The polish concrete floors and timber furnishings give this place a sense of warmth. With only 24 seats in store, you would still call it a small store, but it’s definitely a step up from the food truck.
Today, I ordered their #2, the Blue Cheese Burger with a side serving of fries and truck sauce. The meal was ready within 10 minutes and the burger was all wrapped up. As a dine in customer, I would have preferred the burger on a plate. The burger itself was fantastic. The twice ground meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. The strong flavour of blue cheese hit me with every bite. There was so much blue cheese, I started to feel like a smurf. The caramelised onion was browned to perfection and the bacon was nice and crispy. The bun was a bit burnt around the edges, but that didn’t detract from the overall experience.
The staff were super friendly and the service was pretty good. The pricing is similar to what you pay at their truck so there were no surprises there. The fit out was yet to be complete when I was there and their milkshake machine was notably absent. Once opening day comes around next week, I can see this place being an absolute winner!
