Laksa Plus is a Thai fusion eatery located in the Renaissance Arcade food court. Laksa is the name of the game here, however, they also sell a range of noodle dishes as well as some a la carte options.
Today, I ordered the Pad Thai. The dish was ready after a 10 minute wait and was nicely presented. My initial impression of the dish was that it wasn’t going to taste nice. Instead of a reddish brown colour, it was more of a pale white. My suspicions were correct, the Pad Thai tasted really bland. The noodles were over cooked as they were all stuck together. The chicken was tender and well cooked, and breast meat was used, which is good for the health conscious. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, and the addition of chili and coriander added nice colour. While there were bean sprouts and peanuts, the texture of the dish still lacked crunch. The amount of noodles was generous, but everything else was rather conservative.
If a store names itself after a signature dish, it’s probably what they do best. My Pad Thai was pretty ordinary and failed on so many levels. The dish did cost $8.50 which is probably the cheapest you’ll get around town. I’ll just have to remind myself to never get Pad Thai at a food court.
