After reading several positive reviews about this place, I had certain expectations when dining here today. Tomodachi is a Japanese food stall in the Market Plaza food court. They offer all your traditional Japanese dishes as well as your mainstream sushi varieties.
Today, I ordered the Pork Tonkatsu. The dish was ready after a 15 minute wait and came with a Mashed Potato Salad as well as a bowl of Miso Soup. The Tonkatsu was nicely presented and the serving size was rather generous. The pork was lean, however the Tonkatsu was overcooked. The panko bread crumb coating was rather crunchy, and the coating looked a shade browner than it should have. The curry sauce was a bit salty, although it had a nice bite to it. The rice was OK, although it looked as though it just came out of a rice cooker.

The Mashed Potato Salad was exactly that; mashed potato on top of a green salad. It had a nice tangy dressing which was some form of mayonnaise. While it complimented the main dish well, I felt it didn’t have enough dressing. The Miso Soup was nice, but just tasted like any other that I’ve had.
I have a habit of picking the dishes at places that they do least best, but I thought I would be pretty safe picking the curry option. I was wrong. I felt their Pork Tonkatsu was average at best. If I had to go back, I’d pick something else next time.
