Hains & Co – Juan’s Cantina at Day of Dead Fiesta

Hains & Co’s annual Day of the Dead party returns on Saturday, 31st October 2026, with Herradura tequila cocktails, face painting, DJ Tommy Tequila and a one-night food takeover by Juan’s Torta Cantina.

The Bowden favourite will serve tacos and spiced corn ribs in the Gilbert Place laneway from 6-9 pm, giving city diners a taste of what’s coming before its move into the new Adelaide Central Market precinct early next year.

With Juan’s leaving its Bowden premises this year, the collaboration is a chance to get to know its future CBD neighbours over tacos and tequila. Owner Jon Yeatman will be in the laneway bar hosting guests throughout the evening.

“Guests are encouraged to dress with flair, bring their friends and raise a glass to the living and the lost,” says Marcus Motteram, owner of Hains & Co.

Every dish on the pop-up menu is gluten-free. Choose from Cochinita Pibil, Yucatán-style pulled pork with pickled onion salsa and queso fresco; Carne Asada, marinated grilled beef with tomatillo salsa verde, coriander and onion; and Champignon, marinated grilled mushrooms with chipotle aioli and pickles escabeche.

Tacos are $12 for two, and five spiced corn ribs with chipotle aioli, parmesan and spring onion are $6.

Behind the bar, Herradura tequila takes centre stage. Expect classic and spicy Margaritas, juicy watermelon, pineapple and jalapeño, grapefruit Palomas and cocktails with a smoky mezcal twist. Those who prefer to sip can explore the Herradura range with green sangrita on the side.

A face painter will help guests look the part from 8 pm-10 pm, while DJ Tommy Tequila plays from 8 pm-1 am, taking the evening from taco dinner into a late-night laneway celebration.

Entry is free, walk-ins are welcome, and the bar is open from 4 pm – 2 am. Early table bookings are recommended for those coming for dinner or with a larger group.
