Paper Tiger – Reopens Refreshed and Revitalised

Malaysian and Indonesian specialties have returned to Rundle Street with the reopening of Paper Tiger.

Since a devastating fire in April 2025, the beloved restaurant has been closed. A complete kitchen renovation as part of the rebuild aligned with a fresh menu offering.

Karl Tang, Part-owner and Venue Manager of Paper Tiger, says it’s akin to a phoenix rising from the ashes.

“We first opened in April 2023 and take pride in our strong Malaysian and Indonesian culinary influences,” says Karl. “This is our clear point of difference in the Adelaide CBD, where Thai and broader Asian cuisines are more commonly represented.

“Our new menu is an evolution, one that continues to make Paper Tiger distinct from other Asian fusion establishments.”

The revitalised menu features a selection of Paper Tiger’s much-loved signature dishes alongside new creations curated by Chef Benjamin Liew.

Larger, share-style dishes have been added to the tantalising choices for guests, appealing to big groups dining for catchups and celebrations. New premium dishes have also been introduced, which must be ordered 24 hours in advance, featuring delectable shellfish and pork.

XO Hennessy Cognac infuses southern rock lobster and crispy egg noodles, Singapore chilli mud crab boasts flavours of garlic chilli, cherry tomatoes and golden mantou, while the Lemongrass Pork Tomahawk dish features Berkshire pork, sticky fish sauce and spring onion.

Paper Tiger’s beverage list has also expanded, showcasing both South Australian highlights and international labels, with rare and distinctive Chinese and Japanese wines are among the choices.

Paper Tiger now also transitions into a late-night cocktail lounge following Friday and Saturday dinner service. Sister venue, WAX on the first floor, operates as a vibrant, high-energy drinks destination, offering a second style of beverage service. Paper Tiger is also now open for lunch from Thursday to Sunday and continues to serve dinner seven nights a week.
