The Logical Indian, Adelaide’s first restaurant dedicated to showcasing Coromandel Cuisine from South-East India, has been awarded Best Indian Restaurant in South Australia at the 2025 Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence, held at SkyCity Adelaide on 11 August.
This nationally recognised awards program celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across Australia. Restaurants are assessed on the full dining experience — from food and beverage quality to service, atmosphere, and presentation.
Founded by chef-owner Mervin Joshua, The Logical Indian has been serving Adelaide for over 10 years, introducing diners to the distinctive and authentic flavours of the Coromandel Coast. For the past six consecutive years, the restaurant has been a finalist in the Best Indian Restaurant category — with this year marking its long-awaited and well-deserved victory.

The Logical Indian’s menu draws on centuries-old cooking techniques and regional ingredients from South-East India, offering dishes rarely seen outside the subcontinent. The win also reflects the rising profile of Southern Indian Tamil cuisine, which has been earning recognition on the global stage from New York City to South Australia.
