We visited Roulettes Tavern today to try some of their highly regarded menu. The aroma of the food really got our stomachs grumbling and the presentation of the dishes was better than what you’d expect from a tavern. Here’s what we thought about the dishes we sampled:

We loved the Salmon with chat potatoes, caperberries, green beans, and lemon butter sauce, and it was an absolute delight. The perfectly cooked salmon fillet boasted a crispy exterior while remaining moist and tender on the inside. The accompanying chat potatoes added a delightful touch of creaminess, and the caperberries provided a burst of tangy flavor that complemented the fish beautifully. The vibrant green beans added a refreshing crunch to the dish. However, it was the zesty lemon butter sauce that truly elevated the flavours, bringing a burst of citrusy brightness that tied all the elements together. Every bite was a harmonious symphony of flavors and textures, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.

The Chicken Schnitzel Parmigiana with a side of chips and salad is a well-loved pub staple. The dish exceeded my expectations in every way. The chicken schnitzel was perfectly breaded and cooked to golden perfection, and the layer of melted cheese on top added a delectable richness. The accompanying chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making for an excellent pairing with the schnitzel. The salad, bursting with freshness, provided a refreshing contrast to the hearty main dish. The combination of juicy cherry tomatoes, crisp cucumber, crunchy lettuce, and tangy red onion created a harmonious medley of flavours.

Our taste buds were treated to an explosion of flavours when we ordered the spicy Asian Salad. The combination of crisp cabbage, vibrant carrots, crunchy celery, fragrant mint, zesty onion, refreshing cucumber, and juicy cherry tomatoes created a delightful mix of textures and tastes. The star of the show, however, was the invigorating nam jim dressing. Its spicy and tangy notes elevated the salad to a whole new level, adding a delightful kick to each bite. The salad was not only visually appealing but also a refreshing and healthy option.

We had the pleasure of trying the Salt and Pepper Squid, and it was a true seafood delight. The squid was expertly cooked to perfection, boasting a crispy and flavourful coating that provided a delightful contrast to the tender and succulent meat inside. The accompanying chips were golden and crispy, offering the perfect balance to the squid. The salad, with its fresh and crisp vegetables, provided a refreshing element to the dish. The beetroot glaze added a touch of sweetness that complemented the savoury flavors of the squid, while the chilli oil brought a subtle hint of heat that elevated the overall taste. The dish was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, making it a standout choice for seafood lovers.

There’s nothing like a classic Beer Battered Fish and Chips. The fish, enveloped in a light and crispy beer batter, was cooked to perfection, revealing tender and flaky flesh with each bite. The accompanying chips were golden and crispy, offering a satisfying crunch that paired wonderfully with the fish. The side salad provided a refreshing balance, with its crisp greens and vibrant vegetables. The tartare sauce, with its creamy and tangy flavors, added a delightful zing to the dish. Together, the combination of the succulent fish, delectable chips, fresh salad, and flavourful tartare sauce created a symphony of flavours that left us thoroughly satisfied.

We were transported to Italy and back as we savoured the Tagliatelle Pork Ragu with kalamata olives and parmesan cheese. The tagliatelle pasta was cooked to perfection, al dente and coated in a rich and flavorful pork ragu. The tender shreds of pork infused the sauce with a succulent and savory essence, while the kalamata olives added a delightful briny and tangy note. The dish was beautifully finished with a generous sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese, which enhanced the flavors and added a delightful creaminess to each bite. The combination of the tender pasta, flavorful pork ragu, and the contrasting flavors of the olives and parmesan cheese created a harmonious and satisfying dish that truly delighted our palates.

Prepare yourself for a burger experience like no other at Roulettes Tavern with their epic Roulettes Mega Burger. This culinary masterpiece was a true delight for our taste buds. With its towering presence, it featured a juicy and flavourful wagyu beef patty that was cooked to perfection. But that’s not all – nestled under the beef patty was a crispy and succulent piece of fried chicken, adding a delightful twist to the classic burger. The roasted field mushroom brought a wonderful earthy flavour, while the onion rings provided a satisfying crunch. Generous amounts of cheese, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, and juicy tomato completed this masterpiece. Every bite was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors that left us in awe!
