A new range from third-generation family company Patritti celebrates the hard work that has gone into making wine all the way from grape to glass for nearly 100 years.
The name Lavoro, Italian for work, reflects both the heritage of the family and the toil they and other staff have put into a business that started in the suburbs of Adelaide in 1926.
The eight Lavoro wines, including a sparkling white and red, riesling and shiraz, have been designed for affordable, relaxed drinking, while still upholding the company’s authentic tradition.
Patritti is one of a minority of Australian wine companies that keeps hands-on control of production from the vineyard, to crushing and blending, to bottling and distribution.
While its vineyards have spread to McLaren Vale and other regions in South Australia, Patritti’s home remains among the quiet neighbourhood streets of Dover Gardens, close to the metropolitan beaches of Adelaide.
“We are very proud to have full control from grapes to glass,” says James Mungall, Head Winemaker and grandson of Patritti’s founder Giovanni Patritti.
“This range represents the hard work of a lot of people over the years – three generations and many loyal workers, some of whom have been with us for a very long time.”
Mr Mungall says Lavoro offers “a great opportunity to access wines from some of South Australia’s premium regions at a reasonable price.”
“It’s a really nice, authentic expression of each variety,” he says. “Wine in moderation is part of our everyday life and we feel Lavoro enables you to be part of that family tradition too.”
The Lavoro Range pays tribute to the long-term commitment and dedication that has seen this family business recognised for the quality of its wines that are exported to markets around the world.
